River House

A modern infill overlooking the South Saskatchewan River.

Overlooking the Weir and the Meewasin Trail in City Park, River House is situated adjacent to a hub of activity. A perfect place to people watch or simply watch the river roll by, the house is arranged with a living room and master suite toward the view. The interior spaces are gathered around a central stair that is flooded with light from above. Adjacent to the stair, and spanning two levels, the library space connects the main and second floors. A subtle curve gently transitions wall to ceiling blending the space of the library with the void above. A light hearted interior palette of soft colours is offset against a dark kitchen. The panelized exterior appears to shift, breaking up the singular modern form of the house. Solid panels transition to perforated around openings to soften the exterior.
