RGH PARKADE

Patient-centred infrastructure for Regina’s busiest hospital.

The Regina General Hospital (RGH) Parkade is more than just a parking structure. The RGH Parkade is an extension of the hospital, promoting a patient-centred approach to design and enhancing the safety and accessibility for those who visit and work at the RGH.

The street level and approach is activated with landscaped areas including healing gardens and accessible communal spaces that serve patients, staff, and neighbourhood residents with community amenities that support a healing journey. An indigenous perspective and patient-centred approach brought a deeper understanding to the needs of the site. The surrounding landscape is informed by robust reviews with our diverse design staff and provides a buffer at the ground level while the articulated screen above allows the structure to integrate with the historic and contemporary masonry structure at the hospital. It embraces the structure like a healing blanket, softening the edges and creating a welcoming sense of warmth.
