Health & Light Medical Office

An office building that prioritizes the health of its occupants and access to daylight.

The design of the Avenue P Medical Office Building is intended to provide a comfortable user experience to counteract apprehension associated with a trip to the doctor. Through the use of abundant daylight, structural and material expression, and rigorously integrated building systems, the architecture strives to transform the user experience into one that is as light and as uplifting as possible. The clinic spaces, located on the second level, sit below a large atrium with natural daylight coming in from above. The design of the building was deliberate in its organization of a rational plan that allows for order and excellent wayfinding, always providing views to the outside and keeping visitors aware of where they are as they navigate their medical office visit. Medical specialists, who have traditionally held dedicated offices with adjoining exam rooms, have come together in this design to use open and shared offices and administrative spaces on the upper floors with a shared exam room clinic located on the second floor. The offices on the upper levels open onto the atrium and benefit from the additional daylight flooding the atrium from around the south core and the clerestory windows.
