Ebenezer Baptist Church Renovation

A church renovation and addition to support a growing community.

This addition to an original 1990 church included a new front entrance, additional gathering spaces and new staff offices. At the outset, this project involved examining the church’s program needs and developing recommendations for its capital campaign and phasing. The existing church building presented significant limitations. Our team performed an assessment of the long term goals and objectives of the church, their spatial needs as well as the constraints of the existing building. Within these parameters we developed an overall master plan and a detailed design for phase one of this two phase expansion. The Church’s financial capacity and their ability to raise funds contributed to determining the scale of the first phase of the project. The resultant design is an addition that is sympathetic to the original building and provides new functional spaces to the church and its surrounding community.
