Pleasant Hill Clinic
A clinic designed with patients and practitioners at the heart of the process.
The design of the Pleasant Hill Clinic involved extensive research into the client's mode of practice. This was achieved through a series of interactive design charrettes with clinic practitioners and staff that resulted in a space that is tailor fit to their needs. The design of the exam rooms, as the central component of the clinic, were informed by a detailed analysis of the patient and doctor movements within the space. This process included the construction of a full scale mockup of an exam room within our studio space, complete with millwork and furniture, where we could fine tune the space. The rooms provide a face to face consult arrangement, with comfortable/flexible seating, exam table and equipment in an efficient package. The exam room modules are collected into pods arranged within an open floor plan. Open ceilings overhead allow natural daylight to be shared between the corridor spaces while the pods maintain the required privacy.
